John and Susan welcome you to their family business. They began hosting banquets in 2007 to fulfill a dream they had often discussed over the previous 30 years. They have developed a reputation of preparing nutritional, savory, good tasting foods made from fresh, wholesome ingredients. The bakery and café was added in 2013 since their clients were asking where they could purchase the delicious breads and desserts that Susan made for the banquets they hosted.

There will be some changes to the RiverSong venue as we enter the fall 2019 season. Look for future announcements about the operation of the café/bakery/hall. Susan and John will be retiring from the regular operation of the facility as of August 17, 2019, and will be hosting a time of celebration of 11 years of food service. Watch for the announcement. They will continue to live in the upstairs residence and will host occasional meals and rent out the hall for events. They are speaking with people interested in hosting and cooking for events. They will be working along side them for a period of time with the hope that they can take over the banquets and the café/bakery. Susan and John are open to discussing options for our hall use during this period of transition.

spring is here.….

The osprey pair have returned and the female is incubating the eggs. The male is bringing her fish and every once in a while I have seen him switch places with the female so that she gets a bit of exercise.

A pair of wood ducks have been hanging around our stream/wetland area over the past few weeks. I am hoping they will become resident. They are such colourful creatures.

Big day for birders!

eBird encourages people on a global scale to get out the first Saturday in May for a BIG DAY of birding. The idea is to tabulate the many different species of birds seen that day and then report this to the eBird website. On Saturday May 4, several of us got out onto the RiverSong property and recorded our findings on a whiteboard. At the end of the day I sent in the list of sightings and had a total of 33 species. Last year, I did this on my own in between customers and came up with 35 species. I added one more this year to my life list and several more to the RiverSong list bringing the total to 129 species over the past 11 seasons.

There is much to be appreciated in the great outdoors at this time of year.
